Choral Conducting Masterclass with Shanglun Wu

Co-presented by The Chinese University of Hong Kong Chorus and the Hong Kong Children’s Choir

Renowned Taiwanese Choral Conductor Shanglun Wu is invited to serve as the artist-in-residence of the Chinese University of Hong Kong Chorus (CU Chorus) 2019-20.  Mr Wu will host his choral conducting masterclass in Hong Kong this November. Shanglun Wu is reputable in the Taiwanese music field for his profound understanding and thorough analysis in music. His rehearsal is well-known for its efficiency and great discipline.  In this masterclass, Mr Wu shall study six choral pieces intensely with six conducting students, and guide them in conducting rehearsals with CU Chorus. This masterclass shall definitely benefit students greatly in terms of music preparation, rehearsal skills and conducting techniques.

 

The Masteclass is co-presented with the Hong Kong Children’s Choir, with the lesson sessions and closing concert to be held at its well-equipped recital hall in West Kowloon.

A set of scores is included in the conducting student’s fees;

Shanglun Wu   Clinician

About the Masterclass

In every session, each active student has 20 minutes to conduct CU Chorus to perform a piece chosen from the repertoire, while Mr Wu shall comment on the conducting techniques. Each student will conduct a set piece in the closing concert.

Application Method

Active Student

Submit the application, together with a 5-minute video of conducting in a rehearsal setting for selection by 12 October 2019. Successful applicants shall be informed by 22 October 2019.  Seat would be reserved until 29 October 2019 until full payment of the application fee is settled.

 

Observing Student

Submit the application form before 22 October 2019, settle payment in full by 29 October 2019, and bring the payment receipt in exchange for admission pass on the first day of class.

Limited quota on a first-come-first-served basis.

Please submit the application before deadline.  Successful applications shall be notified 

via email regarding payment details.
